One guy can be heard on the video stating, “There are alligators everywhere.” And when they’re on the road, I’ll have to practically get off my bike and cross the street to avoid hitting them.” I don’t know about you, but we at AZA don’t like the sound of that! In the footage, the trapper appeared to taunt the taped-mouthed alligator. The reptile wiggled away from the catcher, and the trapper smacked its nose like it was a drum. The alligator did not appear to like the tapping and it is unknown if this is a strategy used to soothe the animal. The nine-foot-long alligator swung its head up and was able to knock the catcher to the pavement as the team of cops tried to load it into the bed of a pickup truck. The reptile wriggled out of the bed of the truck while still bound, knocking the trapper unconscious for about four seconds. The people standing around gasped in shock and fear. As the trapper fell to the road, his spectacles fell off his forehead from the force of the blow. Even one of the comments on the video reads, “I’d say that was justified!” It’s hard to imagine what it would be like as a wild animal being caught by humans. It’s safe to assume your instincts are heightened and you’re in a fight or flight response. We’re speaking about a scaly beast, and everyone knows an alligator can beat you up and rip you apart limb from limb if it chooses to. Therefore, one can only speculate as to the degree of power the gator employed to propel this very large man into the pavement. While the alligator in this video was eventually put in the back of the truck and transported to a safer location, we don’t know the condition of the trapper who slapped the animal repeatedly.
